Skipper - Luuk

Since childhood, Luuk has had a great passion for adventure sports. At the age of 15, he started two separate companies “Epic Poles” and “Dream Force One”, producing handmade skis, snowboards and ski poles. In addition, he was active in the sailing community in Amsterdam.

During his studies, Sport & Business Management, he came into contact with ski touring and splitboarding during an exchange programme in Norway. After his studies, he ventured out on a long-distance sailing adventure onboard the 34ft sailing vessel “Whisper”, crossing the Atlantic Ocean, exploring South and Central America. After returning to Europe in 2019, he returned to Norway to explore its magnificent coastline with “Whisper”.

In 2020, Luuk purchased “Moondance” with his good sailing companion Olivier. Since then, they have been charter sailing and exploring the North Sea and the North Atlantic - in Norway, Iceland and Greenland.

“With our new expedition sailing vessel Moondance, the possibilities are endless. Moondance is a one of a kind Koopmans 56ft. This ensures more comfort, space and atmosphere on board. I am looking forward to welcoming happy guests during the Ski & Sail trips in northern Norway. Will we see you there?”

Skipper - Olivier

Olivier was brought up sailing. At the age of six, he stepped onto a sailing boat for the first time and this passion has continued to grow ever since. During his years at secondary school, he spent as much time as possible sailing, windsurfing and skiing. Two weeks after his 18th birthday, he flew to New Zealand for a year to improve his English. During this trip, the idea of sailing around the world with “Whisper” was born. While studying civil engineering in Amsterdam, Olivier developed this plan and gathered the right people around him. In 2017 he laid out on his two-year epic journey, named “the Sailing Taxi project”.

After returning in 2019, he started a Master’s degree in Hydrology. Since 2020 he has been dedicating himself fully to their new vessel “Moondance”, exploring the far corners of the Northern hemisphere.

“After 17,000 thousand nautical miles, 200 guests and several documentaries on our previous sailing ship Whisper, I am more than ready for Moondance. Together with all my experience, our new expedition sailing ship will enable us to seek out some unforgettable trips.”
