Ski & Sail Senja

Senja is the wild adventure island of Northern Norway. Situated in the outer ocean, west of Tromsø, this is the place for escaping the crowds and embracing the elements.

Join our aluminium expedition vessel “Moondance” on a week-long epic adventure.

We provide the best and fully certified UIAGM/IFMGA mountain guides.

Your safety is our top priority.

Where is it?

Senja is situated in the northern part of Norway, in the county of Troms. The island is dominated by mountains, particularly on the western side which is also completely exposed to the Norwegian Sea. Infrastructure is not much developed. The closest airport is Tromsø, from where you will be transported to the vessel. From there on, the vessel and wild beauty of Senja is all you will see for the week ahead.

Not to be missed!

How does it work?

During the week, the vessel “Moondance” is both your home and your means of transport. The vessel has a small dinghy boat for additional transport.

Onboard “Moondance” you will have your own bed with storage for your personal belongings. Asides from other participants, there are mainly two people from Ski & Sail Norway you will have to relate to - the skipper and the mountain guide.

While onboard, it is the skipper’s responsibility to ensure your safety, but also your comfort. The skipper’s focus is serving you the best experience of Senja from an ocean perspective, but also to make sure you are fed tasty, healthy meals after long days in the mountain.

In the mountain, it is the mountain guide you need to relate to. Our mountain guides are fully certified with long experience, local knowledge, and your safety is looked after by the best in the field. It is expected that you listen to and respect the mountain guide’s decision-making.

Arrival and departure happen during the weekend, and our programme involves 5 full ski touring days. You are of course free to have resting days onboard “Moondance”, where the skipper will take good care of you. The mountain guide will still plan for ski touring every day, with the exception of extreme weather conditions.

Alpine skiing involves considerable risk. Make sure you have read our terms and conditions thoroughly before considering a trip with us.
