S/Y Framstig

A century-old circumnavigator

“Framstig” has a truly adventurous story to tell, sailing around the world from 1980-83.

Originally built in Norway in 1914, she was discovered and rebuilt in the 1970s by five adventurers from the island community ‘Flemsøy’ on the Norwegian west coast. After five years of blood, sweat and tears they eventually set sail in 1980, crossing the globe, navigating by the sun and the stars, across the Atlantic ocean, the Pacific, the Indian ocean and the Mediterranean before finally returning to Norwegian shores, 3 years later.

Since then, one of the original boat builders and circumnavigators of the voyage in 1980-83, mr. Svein Flem, has kept her maintained and continuously sailing along the Norwegian coast and British Isles.

Today, you can experience her in the fjords of the Norwegian west coast, more specifically Romsdal & Hjørundfjord. She is a certified passenger ship and holds all required safety equipment. She also holds the following amenities, ensuring your comfort after long days in the great outdoors.

  • Galley with gas stove & oven

  • Bathroom w/hot shower

  • 11 bunks

  • Heating stove & wood stove
